More than four decades of pioneering
The story of the GHotels Group starts in 1972 when its first hotel, Pallini Beach, was built on an approximately 59,000 m2 plot of land in Kalithea, Halkidiki. It led the way in the development of tourism in the region at a time when Halkidiki was completely unknown as a holiday destination.
In 1976 another special hotel, Athos Palace – Villa Princess Theophano, was built on a 79,000 m2 plot in the same area, Kalithea, next to Pallini Beach.
In the following years tourism development in Halkidiki was meteoric and in 1996 new facilities came to be part of the GHotels force with the acquisition of the three star Macedonian Sun and its shopping centre.
In 1997 GHotels are on the cutting edge, offering for the first time in Halkidiki an all inclusive holiday package. In the same year the GHotels family grows further with the addition of the four star Simantro Beach Hotel in Sani, Halkidiki, a very different hotel characterised by the traditional monastery architecture of Mount Athos. The rooms were renovated in 1997 and in 1998 we started the construction of a new section of 379 bed capacity, which was completed in 2001. The same year, the renovated all inclusive Simantro Beach Hotel opened the ‘ITS Calimera Club’, the first of its kind in Halkidiki and in the wider region of Northern Greece.
The renovation of Theophano Imperial Palace started in 2007 and was completed in 2009 upgrading the quality of hospitality to five stars.
Having carved a path of outstanding success in the sector of tourism all the way through, the GHotels Group is looking into the future with optimism and it is ready to respond to the challenges of the 21st century. The five hotels in Halkidiki and the three star Panormo Beach Hotel in Crete are the ideal holiday choice.
Athos Palace Hotel, Pallini Beach Hotel, Theophano Imperial Palace, Macedonian Sun Hotel and Simantro Beach Hotel are all playing today a leading role in the tourism development of Halkidiki while contributing decisively in the support of the local but also the national economy employing over 500 people from the region.
At the same time, the GHotels Group is considered one of the top names for organising conferences as it has hosted some of the biggest conferences on national and international level that took place in Northern Greece. With long experience, perfect facilities, ultra modern technological equipment and trained staff it can accommodate events of up to 2,000 people (conventions, conferences, scientific, professional, commercial and training workshops).
Renowned personalities from Greece and the entire international spectrum of politics, economy and art that have enjoyed the services of GHotels in Halkidiki stand out from among the accomplishments of our Group.
